Rainfall has started in some parts of North Horr Sub-County. According to the climate baseline of the area, the short rain season should start in October and last until December.

Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) and Community Diseases Reporters (CDRs) reported about 4mm rainfall and dust storms in El-Hadi and Balesa. The Global Forecast System (GFS) model predicts about 10-20mm rainfall over North Horr Sub-County for the coming days. By 16th of October a monitoring report regarding the previous 15 days rainfall will be issued and shared with the One Health Project beneficiaries and key stakeholders to support decisions at community level.
This analysis is produced in the framework of the One Health project: Multidisciplinary approach to promote the health and resilience of pastoralist in North Kenya – AID11507. It is a 3-year initiative funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, aimed at improving the access and coordination of human and animal health services and of early warning and response systems to dangerous events that could put the pastoralist communities' health in North Horr Sub-County at risk.
