September 2020 was characterized by very light or no rainfall over North Horr Sub-County. These values are mainly in line with the climatology of the area. According with the climate baseline, the rainfall likelihood should increase in October. We will keep monitoring.
In September two main hazards were recorded over the North Horr Sub-County. As a result of the absence of precipitation the water level in the shallow wells of Gas lowered causing a shortage of water for human consumption. The 18th of September, a wildfire affected the areas around Dukana and El Gade. The fire raged for several days, burning all the vegetation of the area which was destined to feed the livestock. It was not easy to follow and manage the fire since the affected area was particularly difficult to reach by water and vehicles.
